I've spent most of my life making neat things on the internet, between creating graphics, designing and developing websites and software, managing social media, and editing video content. These days, I primarily work as an independent contractor for businesses, freelance professionals, and non-profit organizations.
I'm especially passionate about accessible equity-centered design, user-friendly interfaces, and open-source software, as well as projects that intersect with advocacy (particularly for queer and trans communities).
Outside of my work in technology and design, I've also worked in vegetarian restaurant and café management, directing and editing for film and television, consulting on technical solutions for small businesses, and leading workshops for 2SLGBTQ+ folks.
I'm a lifelong science-fiction nerd, former comic book collector, and current cassette tape collector. When I'm away from my keyboard, chances are I'm making playlists, reading library books, watching movies, or walking around the city taking photos of pigeons.
You can find some examples of websites, applications, and designs I've worked on in the section below, or on my Instagram page, and you can learn about the freelance services I offer a bit further down this page. Also feel free to check out my most recent resume.
Sorry, but this page isn't working right now. It uses jQuery to inject content, so if you have JavaScript disabled in your browser, that's probably the reason (and honestly I respect your choice). If that's not the case however, please check back later.
I'm currently taking on freelance projects for graphic design, web and software development, digital content strategy, and website auditing. Please feel free to reach out and we can discuss your goals, deadline, and budget in more detail. I'd love to help make your dream project a reality!
There are a lot of variables when it comes to design and development work: platform & technology choices, functionality needs, custom design elements, hosting requirements, etc.
My standard process for new contracts usually involves laying out multiple options for clients up-front before I develop a unique road map for the project, and we work on finding a quote that compensates my estimated labour while meeting your budget and needs.
For smaller-scale projects, ongoing maintenance work, graphic design, and consulting, I generally work on an agreed-upon hourly rate.
I develop all of my web projects with consideration for responsiveness (functioning seamlessly across devices), search engine optimization, and web accessibility, and rigorously test for usability and performance before launch to ensure every potential user gets the ideal browsing experience.
I can be reached by email at contact [at] danateagle.com. If you want to send me encrypted messages, here's my PGP key. Please feel free to get in touch if you have a question about any of my apps or websites, or if there's a project or opportunity you think I'd be a particularly good fit for. You can also find me on Instagram, Github, LinkedIn, and various other places online.
